You must wait at least 60 days after getting your M1 before you can take the M2 road test. You have 90 days total before the M1 expires.
11. What if my M1 license expires before I upgrade?
You’ll have to retake and pass the written M1 test again.

Yes, the Official MTO Motorcycle Handbook is available online or in print and is the best resource for studying.
